***Servus noble stranger!***If you are on the way to higher rankings in search engines result lists (SERPs), make a small break here and look how I can help you there. Quite briefly: what and what for is SEOSEO is an abbreviation of the English term Search Engine Optimization and signified originally merely the optimization of the HTML code of the web pages, so that these were recognized as relevant from searching engines about the concept in request. As long as a few hundred thousand websites existed, it was enough for easy search words, today where up to some billion websites float around in the WWW, it is different, unfortunately. If today we speak of SEO, we think for an optimization of the web pages and other provisions that the dominating searching engine Google, puts this far in front into the SERPs. Since Google decides how web pages have to look, it is by far not enough any more to optimize only the pages. In the ideal case your pages are such great, that a lot of webmasters of other websites, deliver a recommendation to visit your site, namely by means of a link which refers to your site. This would be the dearest for Google, they feel this it as a natural link construction which in the least manipulates and falsifies the searching results. To us website operators, this would be the also dearest because this would do of course the least work. Unfortunately, thus does not happen, because there are always a few people who push to the front as they actively take care of such links. So sign up on web directories, invite other webmasters to link exchange. One calls this, in the meantime, "off-page-SEO", in contrast to mentioned on top optimising of the webpages, which is called accordingly "on-page-SEO". We do not want to deal with it, however. So then "off-page-SEO"As already said, you possibly will not make, that you create a website on which, because it is so phantstic, webmaster of other sites link to it like mad. If, for example, Coca Cola would publish the prescription of their delightful mixture, they probably would have thousands of links to their website overnight. If you, noble stranger, have nothing similar to offer, you will probably have to walk on the hard, stony way of the off-page-SEO. In the essentials, the effort of the off-page-SEO, is to find as many as possibly webmasters, who link from their pages to your site. The fact that there are also differences in quality, you read under "link value", we want to deal furthermore only with the registrations in web directory. What is this, a web directory?A web directory (often also called web catalogue) is a ordered listing of links to different websites, thematically in categories and subcategories, mostly even in subsubcategories and subsubsubcategories. You come on the start page of such a web directory (best known e.g. DMOZ) and find 15 main categories and 3 subcategories. Assumed you search somebody who pursues webdesign in your area. You click on "Internet", on the next page you click on "webdesign and webdevelopment", then, finally, you are at the next page "webdesign", the next page is "base services", the next page "Austria" (or whatever country), after you have clicked on "Vienna" and have found us in line 14 with "webdesign". Troublesome!? Thus one has searched earlier, today this is easier, you just visit Google and give "webdesign Vienna" and find us just on the first page, but if you´re giving "search engines optimization Vienna" you´ll find us immediately on position #1! Hip Hip Hurra! So has it become clear to you now, why the web directories nowadays are quite meaningless? Besides, DMOZ (and Yahoo) is by far the biggest web directory and, nevertheless, I cannot remember that I ever have searched even once severely something in a web directory during the last years. Its probably similiar for you!? Google is simply substantially more comfortable, quicker and more precise. Nevertheless, there are thousands of web directories, only German-speaking are 1 to 2,000. Up to a few specialised, by far most have no right to exist for somebody who searches, because he´ll go to Google, anyhow. So what for such a web directory is good? Web directories as a link donatorEven the value of links coming from web directories became strongly depreciated by Google, however, these links still are easiest and quickest one to attain. The first step of the off-page-SEO is still that one announces his site with as many web directories as possible. Because this can be done, however, with almost all web directories only by hand, one must select categories, there are Captchas to be inserted which makes an automatic registration by means of suitable software impossible. So one sits down and sign up, one after the other, this is very laborious! So if one creates 20 entries to web directories in one hour, he is on the move quite quickly. Then for 200 web directories one needs laxly 10 hours! Web directories - esteem on the quality! Then is still to be noted that there are under the available web directories many which are so bad in quality that any registration is wasted time. Backlinks to the web directorySome require a so-called "backlink", a link from one of your pages to the web directory. Generally nothing is to argue against, if it is a well-arranged directory and you have intended place for links on your web pages. But indeed, it is an additional work. Hands away from directories liable to pay costsIn any case, no registration is worth a payment in a web directory at all, even if its just a small amount! Web directories with laborious entrySome operators of web directories, try to revalue these, while they offer the possibility of more extensive descriptions, detail pages, pictures and similar. The reverse is that many of these web catalogue operators more deliberate of quality require that the descriptions are written exclusively only for the respective directory. What is logical in itself because thus "duplicate content" frowned upon by Google is avoided. On the other hand, this is a huge expenditure which amounts to that of a normal link exchange/article exchange. Nevertheless, there I´d go along to a website with similar subject like mine, and procure for myself there a so-called "relevant link". But well, this everybody can hold like he wants. |
